I miss my sister

My family portrait
Brother and Sister
Hee
My dear sister has left for China. For 7 weeks. After a hectic last min packing, she brought 18 kg of luggage, 1 hand carry bag which weighs 5 kg to faraway Beijing which is -0 degree celsius now. As compared to her peeps, i think she has underpacked, but she was her usual bo chup self. Until we reached the airport, then the magtitude of her trip hit her. "I don't want to go liao" she muttered as she stepped out of the cab at the airport. Her friends at work and school came to send her and even wrote her a farewell gift and letter. My father couldn't stop nagging at her to wear more, look after her DS, Mac, Ipod Shuffle, Cameras (yes she brought 2) and $. My mum kept chatting with her roommate's mum while my bro and I just stood like sore thumb. I hugged my sister many times before she left. Even the stupid computer at home was tempermental and refused to start up until now. Then my sister cried. I was red eyed too.
The whole family is quite sad by her absence. Dad told my mum the 1st thing this morning: "I miss my daughter, how?" I had problem sleeping last night because the room was too quiet w/o the humming of the computer and the bed felt too empty. Bro showed me the sms she sent 1st thing this morning. At breakfast we could not stop talking about her.
Send us lots of emails, ah jun. We really miss you alot.

Brother and Sister

The family christmas tree

I treated my sister to KTV, and movie and dinner to my siblings yesterday.

I can't remember the last time i spend time with them. My bro was his usual self not talking much, grinning at silly jokes and faces my sis were making and occassionally gruntles. He needs a makeover complete with haircut and new wardrobe. He has pretty decent looks with a goofy smile. He's just not a great conversationlist or a sociable guy. I wouldn't helping him fork out money for his new look. it will be great to be of some help to him. It's like how my sister put it. We are the most familiar strangers.

And my sister is this incredible silly teenager when she is not a pissed off angry teenager. She has passed her phase of Maple story and Neopets and now in the phase of dramas, ktv and online shopping. I think her impending trip to china is really drawing us the kids closer. I feel very reluctant to let her go but i try to make myself inclusive by spending time shopping and going ktv with her. feels like i had been out of her life for such long time.

Family is so important. and they are my everything. Family is not by choice, but by fate. No matter how we get pissed off, angry or annoyed at them, we will always walk back to them to seek solace. Bit by bit as we grow up, distance build itself between us, but we can't let distance drive a wedge between us. If communication between friends, peers, colleagues are important to our social life and add value, it's even more so for family.

When was the last time you know anything about your family?

Sisterhood

In less than 2 weeks time my baby sister will be leaving for China for 7 weeks. So as a good sister, I have been trying to spend more time with her to get her winter wear and go shopping with her (seems like I'm always the shopping companion these days. Mon was shopping for interview clothes with Hwee Bing and yesterday was shopping for winter wear with Sis. But it's ok I like shopping!). Today I'll be meeting baby sister again to get some stuff at Bugis and tmr I'm going to bring her to Aljunied to go eat the highly recommended by Claudia - minced fish noodles and buy baking stuff for my gingerbread men.

I really going to miss this silly sister of mine. Although I'm the elder one, she is always the one 'scolding' me, cleaning after my mess in the room we share. And I'm always borrowing her jewellery. Most of all, she shares the same bed as me and even though we kick and hit each other alot in bed, it's fun having her around, downloading shows for me. And i realized it's fun shopping with her too. Her sense of style is very different from mine, more preppy, more quirky with acessories while mine is more girly with dresses and skirts. All the past shopping trips have been great bonding session for us, cause at least we didnt quarrel and she seems to be more agreeable and cooperative because we can work together to find things she likes (usually we scream and shout at each other. hardly see eye to eye).

Can't wait for sunday to come. Then we can go sing KTV the whole day, just the 2 of us. (: Long Live Sisterhood!

Happy Birthday Sister!

She is a Pooh Bear fanatic. If you ever been in my room, you'll be amazed at the number of Pooh Bear soft toys and ornaments. Haha. And this Pooh Bear is by far the biggest we have in our possession. About as high as an average human torso. And my wonderful sister hugs it to sleep (i do that sometimes too when she allows me). Given to her by her Rotiboy colleagues, I think she is having one of her better birthdays this year. Anyway she is camera shy, hence this is the best shot I've gotten her. No worries, she looks pretty much like Pooh, with short hair and glasses.

Think she is going to kill me if she read this entry. hee

Anyway my sis is going away to China for internship for 2 months, sometime end of this year. I'm going to miss her so much because I share a bed with her, talk to her when I come home late (if she is not already sleeping) and she downloads all my shows and music!!! What will I do without her? Crap... have to learn how to pirate my own shows and music now.

Gratitude

For all those times I forget to say thanks

This is for you who has assume the 'Daddy' and 'mummy' position in my Amway. Thank you for all the time when you have to put up with my lousy attitude and patience to teach and encourage me all the time.

This is for you who brought me to my first class, sat on the same train ride home with me and send me home so many times. Thanks for listening to my ranting. I like listening to your views, because you always have so much to share.

This is for you who believe in me to be my working partner. I can't describe how blessed I am to have you as my friend and I believe we can definitely achieve our dream of a Hana with Coffee Prince

This is for you who gave me the chance to know this group. I don't know how to not feel bitter towards you. But letting go, I believe I can be happier

This is for you who have been with me since Poly days, lending me your pool, forgiving me over those trivial quarrels over projects. I feel truly blessed that you believe so much in me and is still here for me despite the distance. I can't describe how much your encouragement means to me. I just miss you alot and hope I can be your listening ear just like you have been mine.

This is for you whom is one my best clubbing buddies, and who never give up trying to influence me to take up pole dancing. Haha. You are one complex girl to understand, but I like challenges.

This is for you who has such fabulous fashion taste, and my role model. I love your shops, I love your personality and I hope to become a strong independent girl like you. (not in a stalker way)

This is for you who is my 'nai pa', who always chided me to save money, who helps me to save money and always have stories to encourage me. I do think you are a great leader and a very giving person.

This is for you who always wait for me to come home at night, cook me soups, help me with my laundry, clean my room and sacrifice so much for me for the past 22 years. I want to go travel around the world with you with my own money. I want to give you a better life.

This is for you who sleeps on the same bed as me, download shows for me and is strangely the person I know the least. I really wish i can spend more time and money with you, cause I am really impressed by this lil sis of mine. She is truly a talent, though I dont think she realizes it.

This is for you who were not mentioned above. Not that you are not important, just that you are such an important person to me, I'm at loss of words how to show my gratitude

Family, Friends and The Earth

I love my family and friends and my Earth

My weekend can be considered well-spent with those I love. It was clubbing at Bar None with Sarah and Shumin on Saturday (it was Pam's birthday party and I brought those two party animals along for some fun)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAM! (though I dunno if you read this)

Was intending to head to New Asia Bar / MOS after the party, but we were having too much fun drinking, dancing and socialising with Pam's friends that we stayed at Bar None and Living Room until 4am. Was introduced to Edwin Yeo, a used to be journalist. Apparently he used to gave us a lecture when I was still at CMM, but i completely can't recall that lecture at all. Anyway he is now running a PR company and I cheekily asked about whether there was any job offering.

And things start rolling out that probably PR is not the way for me as I do not have much experience in the media industry. Been in the hospitality industry since graduation probably have not been a very smart move for me. But I have not looked back since. Choice been made and I am sticking by it. Anyway work is just as transition period. But choosing a relevant job is important. So morale of the story: DO NOT COMPROMISE.

After such a tiring night, I only woke up at ard 2 / 3 pm and watch Live Earth. And I was so lucky to catch Madonna. Love her man, she is so damn cool. Really an icon over the eras. Anyway I was really inspired by all the artistes' performances, the commercials and the short films. Feel that the whole publicity of this event done by Ch5 is really good, however publicity in newspapers are probably lacking by alot. This event super reminded of my 1st job after graduation which is public relations for an non-existent event - Listen Live. So sad my event never took off in Singapore but so happy that the concept has taken its life in Live Earth. I really feel that more of such events should be organized to gather the world together for a common cause. Go to liveearth.org to find out more and do your bit to save our dying earth. Oh ya, and switch off that light you are not using.

Last night was truly the highlight of my week, because I finally spent time with my family! We had a crab zhi char dinner at Punggol and I really feel very blessed to have the chance to have dinner with my family. Can't remember when was the last time I actually sat down with them to eat a meal together. Must be CNY... so sad right? We bought durians and walked home from Punggol with it and talked alot. I finally did that long overdue facial for my mum and sister too! I kept really quiet when my parents was saying we should be doing this every weekend. I really wish I can, but if I got more impt priorities I've gotta go fulfill those first before I can be with my parents 24/7. Ever since I have joined Amway, I really really really wished my parents are fighting on the same line as me, so that it won't be so tough and we can go overseas together within the next 2 years too. I wish for that day to come real soon!
